Online Bachelor DegreeThis information applies to an online course that would grant you a Bachelor’s Degree. This may be the second step in your academic achievement if you have already graduated with an Associate’s Degree. With a traditional college or university, you will likely spend four years or 8 semesters gaining such a degree. Some colleges do have accelerated programs that allow you to get a Bachelor’s Degree in just three years. This usually means attending summer school or loading down your course schedule with more than the regular 5 subjects each semester. Having a Bachelor’s Degree means you have completed approximately 120 credits in specialized study. Each subject you take, on average, is worth about 3 credits, each semester. The initial required subjects are the same for an Associate’s Degree and include: Liberal Arts and SciencesCommunicationNatural Sciences / MathematicsHumanitiesSocial ScienceThese are considered the core subjects. Then, there are the special areas of study that make up the individual’s major and minor courses and are dependant on what profession the student is pursuing. And finally, the electives are chosen to complete the student’s curriculum. The two most common types of degrees awarded are the Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Science. Bachelor Degrees are also commonly given in Applied Science, Economics, Business, Fine Arts and Medicine. Bachelor Degree RequirementsIn order to be accepted into any college, university, distance education or other online school, you must have at least a high school diploma or GED. If you have attended a junior or community college and gained an Associate’s Degree, you may be able to transfer your credits towards a Bachelor’s Degree. Check with your school of choice and see whether or not your credits will be accepted. It’s also important to apply yourself well while in school, because a Grade Point Average (GPA) of lower than 2.0 will not bring you a degree. If you hope to enter Graduate School, then you will need a minimum GPA of 3.0 when graduating. Make sure the school you are looking into is accredited with the US Department of Education.
